Yucatan is one of the most charming places in Mexico, with a rich history and fantastic gastronomy it is easy to understand why this state in Mexico it's becoming a destination on it’s own. My trip started on Cancun and I decided that to save time, I will rent a car to facilitate my adventure. One of the first destinations that I visited on my way to Merida was the city of Valladolid. This city has a rich history as one of them made trading post on the Peninsula. With charming colonial architecture and undeniable Mexican flare, Valladolid has many things to offer. I love getting lost in the streets of this city and one of the main things about the center of the city is that it has its own cenote (sinkhole or even cave connected to an underground river ) the Cenotes represented the gateway from our realm to a sacred universe. Since now you are in the state of Yucatan make sure you have time to try one of the most traditional dishes in the region, “cochinita pibil” and it consists of slow roasted pork with a particular citrusy flair to it.
